Dropshot AI Wins Korean R&D Support to Build Hybrid Stock-and-Generated Video

Summary

South Korean video-AI company Ziro has been selected for the government-backed Scale-up TIPS program, making it eligible for up to 2 billion won in research funding over three years. Ziro’s Dropshot AI platform gives marketers, designers and creators access to multiple generation models. The company says the service reached 280,000 monthly active users within nine months of its January launch and now produces 30,000 pieces of content per day. It plans to combine its licensed Korean live-action stock library with AI generation and augmentation, aiming to cut the cost and time of producing a 30-second video by more than half, then expand from creator subscriptions to broadcasters, agencies and public institutions.

Hana’s perspective

I see the most useful signal in Ziro’s focus on cost, speed and reliability rather than raw generation quality. Production teams need repeatable output and accountable source material, not just impressive clips. Combining licensed live-action stock with generated or augmented footage could give advertisers a more controllable workflow, although Ziro’s promised savings and usage figures remain company-reported. The expansion toward broadcasters and agencies will reveal whether Dropshot can meet professional demands for rights documentation, consistency and revision—not merely attract individual creators.
