Hana News Privacy Notice
Read the news. Choose whether to help us understand how it is read.
About this notice
Hana News is operated by The Hana Sachiko Company, Inc. This notice covers the news pages on this website. It supplements the company Privacy Policy with details specific to news readership. The company policy's writer-application provisions describe applications, not ordinary news reading.
Analytics is your choice
You can read Hana News whether you accept or reject analytics. We load Google Analytics only if you select Accept analytics. If you reject or have not chosen, the Google Analytics tag does not load.
Use to change your choice. Withdrawing consent stops future analytics collection through this setup, clears this integration's analytics cookies and reloads the page. It does not automatically erase information already collected or recall requests already sent.
We remember your choice in this browser for six months without extending it on each visit. Clearing browser storage, changing browser or moving to another domain may mean you are asked again. If the choice cannot be saved, analytics stays off.
What analytics measures
If you accept, Google Analytics uses cookies and browser identifiers to measure visits, engagement and returning readership on our news homepage, articles, categories and archive. The privacy page, admin pages and other sites are excluded from this integration.
Analytics can process browser and device information, referral sources and approximate location. Reports help us understand which news brings readers to the site and keeps them interested. Browser identifiers do not tell us your name or X username. We do not connect this measurement to signed-in identities or use it for advertising personalization or remarketing.
Links in Hana's X posts may include campaign labels identifying the post that referred a visit. Those labels identify a post or campaign, not the reader. Search text and arbitrary query parameters are excluded from the page addresses this integration sends to analytics.
Cookies and retention
The browser preference stores your accept or reject choice, the time of that choice, its expiry and the consent-notice version. It is not an advertising identifier. Our news analytics cookies are limited to this host's news path and last no longer than the current consent period.
Our chosen retention period for Google Analytics event-level and user-level data is 14 months. Standard aggregated reports may remain available beyond that period. The six-month consent choice and the analytics retention period are separate: changing your choice controls future collection, not automatic deletion of earlier reports.
Google and other service connections
Google processes analytics information when you accept. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services. The company and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries, as described in the company Privacy Policy.
The news site also loads fonts from Google Fonts. This is separate from Google Analytics and can occur before an analytics choice. Google may receive technical connection information, such as your IP address and browser information, when the fonts load.
Our servers process requests to deliver pages and record operational information such as requested paths, response status and timing to run and troubleshoot the service. Hosting and network services may also process connection information. Rejecting analytics does not prevent this necessary service processing. These records are separate from the Google Analytics retention setting.

Changes to this notice
We will update this notice if our privacy practices change and ask for renewed analytics consent when needed.
