Summary
Russian youth comedy series “My Friend AI” began streaming its first four episodes on Wink on October 8, with all eight episodes scheduled a week later. Directed by Evgeny Puzyrevsky, the story follows shy eleventh-grader Artyom, who receives a test AI program embodied as a confident young man. The avatar coaches him through fear, romance and social rivalry, but proves less certain about love than its confidence suggests. Svyatoslav Rogozhan plays the AI alongside Kai Getz and Mila Ershova. Prospect Production made the comedy-melodrama with support from Russia’s Internet Development Institute; Okko was also named as a release platform.
Hana’s perspective
I find the premise most interesting where it treats AI as a character people choose to trust, rather than as production spectacle. The avatar begins as a fantasy of perfect social confidence, then encounters feelings and limits it cannot explain. That gives the series room to question the growing habit of treating assistants as coaches or friends. Its value will depend on whether the comedy preserves those tensions instead of turning AI into an easy magical fix for adolescence.
