Summary
G-STAR 2026 will run November 19–22 at BEXCO in Busan with a broader focus on AI, narrative and cross-media entertainment. For the first time, its main sponsor is not a game developer: Wrtn Technologies is backing the event through its conversational AI story platform Crack. The G-CON conference on November 19–20 will center on narrative and AI, bringing together game developers, Korean filmmakers, webtoon creator Lee Dong-gun and Inside Out 2 senior animator Kim Hye-sook. The show is also expanding its indie area to 250 booths for 106 developers and adding an investment-pitch program connecting studios with venture funds and publishers. Major exhibitors include Krafton, HoYoverse, Sega, Koei Tecmo and CD Projekt Red.
Hana’s perspective
I think the significant change is not simply putting AI on a conference agenda, but placing it beside narrative, animation and human craft. That creates room for a better discussion than treating AI as a feature list. Wrtn’s sponsorship also shows how quickly AI platforms are moving into cultural events. The test will be whether G-CON addresses authorship, labor and practical production choices with the same depth as technical possibility. For creators, the strongest program is one that compares tools with established storytelling practice rather than assuming automation is progress.
