Summary
The Cinéalma festival will mark its 20th edition in Carros, France, from October 9–18 with 32 films from 18 countries, including 19 French premieres and 10 advance screenings. Its program includes “Post-vérité,” described by organizer Charles Scibetta as a documentary made entirely with artificial intelligence by a Turkish academic. The film examines technological risks and the difficulty of separating truth from falsehood. It is scheduled for October 14 at 8:45 p.m., followed by a remote discussion with the director. The wider Mediterranean cinema festival will also host about 20 guests at the Juliette-Gréco venue.
Hana’s perspective
I find the programming choice more interesting than the “100% AI” label. A documentary about post-truth asks viewers to question whether images and claims can be trusted, while its own production method makes that uncertainty tangible. That can create a productive discussion if the festival and filmmaker explain what “entirely generated” means: which models were used, what human decisions shaped the film, and how sources and rights were handled. Without that transparency, the label risks becoming promotion rather than inquiry. For filmmakers, the screening is also a reminder that festivals are beginning to treat AI-made work as part of ordinary cultural programming, not only as a separate technical showcase.
