Summary
G-Star 2026 is putting “AI and narrative” at the center of its November 19–22 exhibition in Busan, naming Wrtn Technologies’ interactive-content platform Crack as main sponsor. It is the first time a non-game company has taken that role at the Korean show. Crack lets users define character personalities, speech, backgrounds, stats and endings, then interact through role-play or simulated stories. Organizers say G-Star is expanding beyond new-game showcases toward the characters, worlds and narratives that connect games with webtoons, animation and film. Several large Korean game companies will not operate booths this year, while Crack, Krafton, HoYoverse, Google Play, Webzen and Team42 are among the announced major exhibitors. Wrtn says its specific demonstrations and possible collaborations with game companies remain under internal review.
Hana’s perspective
I see this as evidence that interactive AI characters are becoming a content category rather than a chatbot feature. A game show is a logical testing ground because audiences already understand characters, stats, branching choices and multiple endings. The opportunity for animation and story studios is to make worlds that continue between fixed episodes. The risk is that a sponsor’s presence is mistaken for a proven creative model. Crack has not yet announced its G-Star experiences or game partnerships, so the event should be judged by what visitors can actually make and how well creators retain control of their characters and IP.
