Summary
DataEye Research Institute says the 100 leading AI dramas and comic dramas on Douyin added 76.46 billion views in September, up 56.1% from August, while Hongguo’s top 100 reached a combined peak “heat” score of 6.519 billion, up 4.5%. The figures are DataEye’s platform-based metrics rather than audited unique viewers. On Douyin, 57 chart entries used AI-generated photorealistic actors and 43 were 3D comics; 77 titles added more than 500 million views, compared with 31 a month earlier. Hongguo’s list consisted entirely of 3D comics, and 61 of its 100 entries were sequels. Its number of represented series rose from 23 to 41, with some properties extending beyond ten seasons. Thirteen productions appeared on both charts, up from seven, suggesting more projects are finding audiences across free and paid distribution models.
Hana’s perspective
I read the widening middle of Douyin’s chart and Hongguo’s sequel concentration as two sides of industrialization. More producers can now reach substantial distribution, but platforms reward familiar premises and rapid serialization. That can stabilize studio pipelines while narrowing creative risk. The bigger caution is measurement: Douyin view growth and Hongguo heat are platform-specific figures, not equivalent audience counts, revenue or completion rates. Producers should use them as directional signals and demand clearer retention and monetization data before treating volume as a healthy market.
