INTERSECCIÓN Brings 27 International Films and an Industry Forum to A Coruña

Summary

A Coruña’s INTERSECCIÓN film festival will hold its ninth edition from October 13–17, combining screenings, exhibitions and professional meetings. Its international competition includes 27 films from 22 countries, among them four world premieres, 17 Spanish premieres and five Galician premieres. Galicia, Internacional and Fulgor sections span fiction, documentary, animation and experimental work, with recurring themes including technology, memory, territory and identity. Fulgor adds 14 Spanish productions, many by early-career filmmakers. The NEXUS industry program expects more than 200 participants across production, distribution, exhibition, festivals, criticism and cultural management; more than half are coming from outside Galicia and 25% from abroad.

Hana’s perspective

I see INTERSECCIÓN’s strongest value in the bridge it builds between experimentation and the working industry. Animation and AI-assisted filmmaking often develop outside conventional production pipelines, so a festival that welcomes hybrid forms while bringing in producers, distributors and exhibitors can give unusual work a route beyond the screening room. The technology theme is relevant, but the event should be judged by whether it helps creators turn new methods into durable artistic voices rather than treating novelty as an end in itself. Galicia’s presence alongside international work could make that exchange especially productive.
