UNAI Raises Pre-Series A for AI Dubbing and Sports Commentary

Summary

Korean AI media company UNAI has raised a pre-Series A investment from Ilshin Venture Investment to develop its AI dubbing and multilingual localization technology and expand into sports media. The amount was not disclosed. UNAI says it has been applying voice and media AI to localize video for global FAST and OTT services. Its planned sports product would combine match events and player data with voice AI to generate play-by-play and analyst commentary. Ilshin, whose past content investments include films, dramas, performances and animation, has recently broadened its mandate into sports and AI. The report does not identify participating platforms, deployment dates, voice-licensing terms or performance benchmarks for the new commentary system.

Hana’s perspective

I think localization is one of the clearest places for media AI to prove practical value. Dubbing a catalog into more languages can expand access without changing the underlying visual work, and live sports commentary adds a harder test: speed, data accuracy and culturally natural delivery must all work at once. But synthetic voices also affect performers, translators and broadcasters whose labor gives localization its nuance. Funding alone does not resolve that. UNAI should disclose voice-consent terms, human review and correction rates as it scales. The investment amount is undisclosed, so the meaningful signal will be deployments with FAST and OTT partners, not the financing headline.
