Summary
A report from Xiamen describes local studios using AI for scripts, character creation, dubbing and animated microdramas aimed at overseas audiences. Paper Monkey Technology says it is adapting licensed intellectual property with Minnan themes for China and Southeast Asia. AINext says it has a long-term production relationship with TikTok Singapore and that its works have drawn more than ten million views across North America and Southeast Asia. Other groups are building multilingual distribution, rights and commercialization services. The report also cites company and DataEye estimates for market growth, production costs and efficiency; those figures are attributed claims, not independently audited results.
Hana’s perspective
I find the local-production detail more useful than the headline growth numbers. The teams are combining licensed IP, regional culture, translation and overseas distribution rather than treating AI generation as the whole product. That is a stronger export strategy than simply making more cheap episodes. Still, claims of 30-to-50-times efficiency and huge market growth need comparable accounting and named research methods. The real test is whether localized series retain viewers and earn repeatable revenue after marketing, translation and revision costs are included.
