Summary
Novosibirsk’s planned Media Park Siberia will include a virtual-production studio built around a large panoramic LED screen synchronized with the camera, according to Akadempark chief executive Dmitry Verkhovod. The cylindrical stage is intended to replace physical locations with responsive digital environments, from jungles to extraterrestrial landscapes. The 3,500-square-meter complex will devote more than 1,000 square meters to the studio and supporting rooms, while a nearby data center will process media content. The facility is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2028 and is being positioned as a shared production site for filmmakers from across Russia. Akadempark’s broader creative-industries program also targets technology development for film, animation and games.
Hana’s perspective
I see the most important part as shared access, not the claim of “world-class” quality. A regional LED-volume stage backed by local computing could let smaller film, animation and game teams test virtual production without building their own infrastructure. That can keep more production work and technical knowledge in Siberia. But the facility is still planned for 2028, and a large screen alone does not create a production ecosystem. Its value will depend on trained crews, reliable real-time pipelines, sensible pricing and enough projects to keep the stage in use between major shoots.
