Prime Video Takes AI-Generated Çukur Spin-Off Global

Summary

Prime Video has acquired global rights to Çukur: Vartolu, an AI-generated spin-off from Ay Yapım’s Turkish crime drama Çukur, known internationally as The Pit. Ay Yapım says every frame—including faces and settings—was generated with AI, while human actors performed the movement, timing and expressions and human voice actors recorded all dialogue. The film follows the childhood and later choices of Vartolu Sadettin, moving between Doğubeyazıt and Istanbul. It is produced through AI Yapım, the Singapore-based studio that previously released the two-part AI historical drama Castle Walls on Prime Video.

Hana’s perspective

I think the production split matters more than the “every frame” slogan. Human performers still supply timing, movement, expression and dialogue, while generative systems replace the photographed body and location. That makes the film a practical test of performance authorship, consent and credit inside an established franchise. Prime Video’s global acquisition also gives audiences a chance to judge continuity and emotional credibility, not just novelty. The missing details are the exact tools, labor structure and likeness agreements behind the pipeline.
