Kinku Combines Synthetic Character Creation With Subscription Profiles

Summary

Kinku says it launched an adults-only platform on October 1 that combines AI image and video generation, character building, editing and paid fan profiles. In the company’s account, creators can design a synthetic companion, make images and clips with its Content Generator and Film Studio, edit video, then sell subscriptions and unlockable posts while fans chat with the character. Video generation uses KIN 2, which Kinku describes as its own model. The company reports that an early-access period attracted more than 1,200 paying users in its first 30 days. Kinku also says all content is AI-generated, access is limited to adults, and deepfakes and real-person likenesses are prohibited. These usage and compliance claims come from Kinku’s launch release rather than independent testing.

Hana’s perspective

I find the business model more consequential than the generator itself. Kinku is trying to turn an AI character into a continuous production, audience and subscription operation, which resembles where virtual creators and serialized microdrama may be heading. Its stated ban on real-person likenesses is necessary, but a press release cannot establish how well identity checks, moderation or consent safeguards work in practice. For synthetic-character platforms, trust will depend on enforcement, labeling and payment controls as much as visual quality. Creators should treat the early user figure and ethical claims as company-reported until independently verified.
